About Punk Rock Pottery

Punk Rock Pottery: A Family’s Creative Journey

Punk Rock Pottery is a family-owned and operated ceramics studio that blends rebellion with creativity, proving that pottery can be as bold and unique as the people behind it. Founded three years ago by Leea, the mom of the family, Punk Rock Pottery began with a spark of curiosity and a love for self-expression. After experimenting with pottery and becoming instantly hooked, Leea taught herself everything she could, diving headfirst into the art form. But it wasn’t until Shawn, her husband, initially dismissed pottery as “boring” and not fitting their home’s aesthetic that the true punk spirit kicked in. A week later, Leea handed Shawn a handmade mug emblazoned with a skull and an Anarchy symbol. And just like that, their creative journey was set in motion.

Over the years, the family has continued to push boundaries, combining the raw energy of punk rock with the timeless craft of pottery. Their 24-year-old daughter, Sage, a ceramics graduate, was invited to join the team to help keep up with the growing demand. Sage brought with her a fresh wave of creativity and knowledge, elevating the studio’s work to new heights. The entire family is involved, whether it's creating custom pieces, collaborating on designs, or sharing their story.

Shawn, once the skeptic of pottery, now plays a central role in the studio as the master of glazing. His meticulous approach and love for experimentation bring a unique flair to each piece, adding depth and character that reflect the family’s punk rock roots.

While Sage focuses on pottery, Taj, their other daughter, is in college studying music and marine biology in St. Petersburg. In addition to her academic pursuits, Taj has her own weekly radio show, Taj’s Punk Happy Hour, where she mixes her love for music and punk culture. Although her focus is different, Taj is always ready to lend her support to the family business.

Punk Rock Pottery’s unique pieces have caught the attention of punk rock legends and fans alike. The studio has had the honor of selling pottery at the Punk Rock Museum and creating custom cereal bowls for Fat Mike of NOFX. Their connection with the band has led to collaborations that include joining NOFX on tour in Utah, Portland, and LA. Every piece of pottery reflects the family’s punk ethos, with designs that challenge conventions and invite the unexpected.

Now, in a bold new chapter, the family is packing up and moving to Orange County to cannonball into the pottery business full-time. They’re ready to dive headfirst into this exciting new phase and can’t wait to join the local scene — and the circle pit — with all the passion and energy that punk rock pottery represents.

From the wheel to the kiln, Punk Rock Pottery is all about embracing creativity, rejecting the norm, and making art that speaks to the soul. It’s not just pottery – it’s a family legacy, and every piece tells a story of passion, resilience, and rebellion.
